Auroraprint - frequently asked questions about foil printing.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the best format to supply my artwork: Artwork must be created in a vector-based format and saved as PDF (or supplied as .ai, .svg, .eps or .indd file type).

Designs created in a pixel-based format, such as .jpg, .png etc, are not suitable. For more information please get in touch.

What font sizes should I use: It's generally best to stay above 6pt font size (depending on font type), but it is possible to use smaller sizes if the font is suitable - please get in touch for more information.

What card/paper types do you offer: There is a fairly extensive range of cards and papers available, including; smooth, textured, uncoated, reycled and laminated and in a range of weights from 80gsm up to 2000gsm. For more information about types and weights please get in touch.

What card sizes can I use: The cards Auroraprint produce are completely bespoke, so any size can be used.

What is a 'print plate': The print plates are an etched/engraved copy of your design, produced in either magnesium, brass or copper. These plates are used to apply the foil to the card/paper by pressing the colour into the surface of the card.

What are your turnaround times: The standard turnaround time is 10-14 days, but if you require a more urgent turnaround please get in touch.

What foil colours do you have: We stock a number of foils that are available for normal turnaround-time printing, but we have access to a large number of foils that can be ordered as required (subject to additional costs). Please get in touch for more information.

What are your payment terms: For new customers we operate a payment-in-advance policy, but for repeat orders and regular customers, payment terms are more flexible - usually payment on delivery.

How can I pay for my order: We generally request BACS/bank transfer, but we can also accept Paypal or cheque (subject to clearence times).
